Bougie Fashion Finds: Part Deux

As I was digging in the depths of my mind for a new blog post that wasn’t complete and utter shit, it came to me. I scrolled through my blog for it and then I found it: an old post called ‘Bougie Fashion Finds.‘  Because the 4th of July is right around the corner and my favorite stores are literally pulling sales out of their asses, I decided to continue my Bougie Fashion Finds series after abandoning it for other shit. I hope y’all noticed how I used the French word for two instead of using, good ol’ American. I’m trying to transform this blog into a transracial, transethnic, and multicultural blog in an attempt to snatch up some sponsorships and become internet famous. Anyways, let’s just jump right into this post with my first bougie selection!

The Silk Panel Top

COS is literally my dream store and its aesthetic makes my mouth water.  Unfortunately, I’m broke and usually can’t afford anything from here, but COS is having a 50% off sale and I ordered this beautiful silk panel v-neck top. Layered pieces have never really been my thing because I usually find them tacky, unflattering, and just a mess in general, but I really adored this piece because of the contrasting materials in one color. Pastel blue is one of my favorite colors, and the hue of this shirt looked beautiful on the website. The slightly boxy fit is also appealing, because I find that a lot of tops like this have no shape and I end up looking like I threw a fucking trash bag on and called it a day. For $50, this is a great steal and I’m hoping it lasts a long ass time.

The Romper

I’m very ‘meh’ on rompers. Some of them look amazing and some look like a complete damn mess, but I honestly could give two fucks about the perfect romper to add to my wadrobe. After a long day of internet fuckery, I found this piece on Loft’s website, and I just fell in love with the romper. The floral detailing + the rust orange color + the v-neck = a flawless one-piece. It was like lust at first sight. I almost shelled out the $79.50 the romper would’ve originally cost because I liked this piece so much, but Loft pulled through with that 4th of July sale, and I got to buy it for half off. Shout out to the 4th of July, because them sales have been leaving my wallet happy, and my inner shopaholic happy.

The Frayed Hem Denim Shorts

When it was about 3000 fucking degrees outside, I searched my struggle wardrobe for a pair of denim shorts to throw on. I made a horrifying discovery: I didn’t have any decent shorts. The only shorts I had were these ugly ass shorts I bought from the dollar store because I had nothing else to wear. Lemme tell y’all, these shorts were ugly as fuck and I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing them outside of my house. On the flip side, these shorts from Mixxmix were exactly what I needed for the summer heat. High waisted shorts give my nonexistent ass some life and these fit the bill. The frayed ends were also appealing considering I’m not the biggest fan of a rolled up hem. What really made these a bougie fashion find was the price: These shorts were only $21.30 and right now Mixxmix has them on sale for $17.04!

The Wrap Dress

I absolutely love a cute ass dress and Aritzia came the fuck through with what I was looking for. Usually, I take one look at Aritzia and cry tears of blood because everything is so damn expensive, but today was the day y’all. It was the day I actually purchased something from Aritzia. My dress collection is composed of fancy ass dresses for fancy ass occassions, and I just wanted something I could throw on and carry on with the rest of my day. This dress fit the bill. The grey color is subdued while the wrapped hem at the bottom makes the dress seem more sophisticated then it actually is. Also, the fit was lovely and I’m always up for purchasing a bodycon dress that makes me look and feel great.

The Short Crochet Top

When I think crochet, I used to think of needles, yarn, and struggling. I was complete shit at crocheting y’all. This top gives crochet a new meaning. Instead of serving y’all a fresh, heaping plate of struggle, this top is serving up fresh boho vibes. When I first saw this on Zara’s website, I scrolled past it mainly because of my fear of halter tops and my aversion to crocheted shit. On second glance though, I could feel the top calling to me and my empty wallet. For $9.99, there wasn’t much to lose and I’ll be slaying heauxs on the beach in my lil’ top.

So that concludes my second ‘Bougie Fashion Finds’ post and I actually think I won’t abandon it like I do with the rest of my ideas. As usual, any constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged. What are your recent fashion finds? Any favorite new things you’ve purchased? Leave a comment below letting me know, because this girl wants to know about new fashionable shit you’ve found.

The Ultimate Shopping Guide For Broke Niggas

This post is dedicated to all my broke niggas out there. I understand the struggle of having no money to buy shit you want. Yet at the same time, you still want to be fly as fuck. This is going to be a comprehensive list of clothing stores that are affordable AND fashionable. Let’s just jump right into this long ass guide!

  • 2020ave – This store is somewhat underrated, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite stores for fast fashion pieces and shoes at an affordable price. Seriously, check out their shoe section. It’s like a mini, cheaper version of Aldo. The quality ain’t that bad either.

  • American Eagle – I know this sounds suspect as fuck, but AE jeans are cheap as fuck and more importantly affordable as fuck. For the girl(or guy) who’s on a budget, their jeans are an amazing steal. Occasionally I manage to snag a great pair of shoes from there(peep the sandals y’all).

  • ASOS  – Y’all ASOS is literally an online mall for cheap fashion. I’ve scored some amazingly cheap shoes, skirts, tops, and whatever else I need for an amazing price. With a multitude of brands, you can’t really go wrong with ASOS. Just want to note that some brands there are straight up overpriced crap, and aren’t worth your money. The ASOS brand has an amazing, and somewhat affordable line of basics(their tailored linen shorts are to die for) that can be used to build up your wardrobe from the bottom up. Their shoe selection is also lit as fuck and I’ve purchased a few pairs of statement heels from there.

ASOS Pixie Pointed High Heels, $26

  • Cotton On – Cotton On is an Australian clothing store and I’ve fallen in love with them y’all. Their bras are legitimately the best bras I’ve ever bought and beat all the competition (looking at you Victoria’s Secret). The fits are flawless and the prices y’all. They deadass are selling some of these bras for $15. $15! If you need to replace your current struggle bra, Cotton On is your store.

  • Dorothy Perkins – Honestly, I thought the UK based retailer looked drab and dreary as fuck the first time I visited their website, but after a bit of snooping I’ve found a couple of great basic pieces from there.  DP’s clearance section always has a few gems that won’t break the bank.

                                       Black Cami Body, $12

  • Express – Express is an incredibly cheap store IF you catch their sales on time. Typically, Express marks their shit up to a ridiculous price and certain simps will buy their clothing at full price. What y’all need to do is wait until they have one of their sales. Usually Express’ sales get you 40 – 70% off your whole purchase. I’ve gotten some really cute, casual dresses from Express and other miscellaneous shit.

  • Haute Look – Daily deals on expensive designers. What more can I say? I check Haute Look every damn day for deals on handbags, shoes, clothes, and even for makeup deals.I’ll be discussing it’s sister site, Nordstrom Rack a bit below this so keep on reading!

  • H&M – I feel like H&M and Forever21 are basically interchangeable. Anyways, H&M is basically a fast fashion store that’s like half a step above Forever21 in terms of quality  except for a few things. Never buy any shirts for HM. Crap quality. However, H&M jeans have lowkey snatched my edges. I’ve had a pair of skinny jeans for a year and they still haven’t stretched out yet. I’m shocked to be honest. They’re literally my favorite pair of jeans ever and I got them on sale for $19.99. Check out them jeans y’all.

  • Forever 21 – If I didn’t include Forever 21 I’d be a complete fucking idiot to be honest. I have three rules for shopping Forever 21: never spend more than $30 on one item, read the reviews, and don’t expect stuff to last a long time. Most of the shit I buy from Forever 21 are super trendy pieces that I don’t expect to last for more than one season. Despite this fuckery, Forever 21 is home to a few really great deals. Their $1.80 camis are fabulous and have actually lasted more than one season.

                    Ribbed Cami Bodycon Dress, $22.90

  • Loft – Loft is Ann Taylor’s less pricey, super sale having, business casual sister. At retail price, most of Loft’s pieces are way out of my small ass budget. However, literally every fucking day Loft is having some sort of 40 – 60% off sale. I’m not even joking. Considering the cheap prices due to the sales, Loft’s quality is really wonderful. The only negative thing I have to say is that their vanity sizing is ridiculous. In Loft shirts I’m somehow an extra-extra small and in their pants I’m a 00. Seriously, size down when buying from them.

  • Mixxmix – THIS is the store I want to rave about. I could ramble on for paragraphs about my love for this store, but I’ll keep it cute for the blog. Mixxmix is basically a Korean fast fashion store which has super low prices and great quality clothes. I was a bit concerned it was some Yoins/Zaful/Sheinside level crappy clothes, but everything I’ve bought from them has snatched my edges. They have amazing basics and trendy pieces, especially the skirts. Their skirt selection is straight fire. Two things to note: Their shoe sizes don’t go past US size 8, so you may be out of luck in that department and some of their one-size fits all clothing may not fit everyone.

  • New Look – New Look = the UK version of Forever 21. I only use New Look to buy super trendy pieces that will fall apart in about a year or so. They occasionally have some really cool shoes and in the fall they stock a variety of booties. I bought a pair of black suede flats from them, and to my surprise they weren’t horribly uncomfortable nor did they look ridiculously cheap.

  • Nordstrom Rack – For all those who want cheap designer goods: this is the store for you. I’ve gotten some super lit deals on shoes, designer handbags, and even some designer clothing. Nordstrom Rack has replaced TJMaxx as my go to “get cheap designer shit” store. Right now they’re having a massive up to 75% off on clearance sale, so if you want to cop some things, do it now!

  • Old Navy – 99% of the time Old Navy is a cesspool of shit and more shit. The other 1%, you can find some dirt cheap basics. My favorite fitted tees have come from Old Navy, including the one I was wearing in this post. Honestly, I don’t recommend much from Old Navy aside from the basics, and even recently they’ve been fucking those up. Once again, make sure you read the reviews before wasting your money because Old Navy is on some fuckshit sometimes.

  • Pomelo – After screwing around on YouTube for a bit, I peeped that one outfit in a lookbook  featured a piece from a store called Pomelo. I then concluded that I needed that piece in my life ASAP and decided to check it out.Once it seemed somewhat legit I placed an order. This store has become one of my absolute favorites for trendy pieces. It’s like a smaller, cheaper version of Zara. If you need trendy pieces, this is your store.

kenzie-gingham-double-breasted-shorts

Kenzie Gingham Double Breasted Shorts, $19

  • Target –  I’m not a Target girl. I prefer Walmart with all of its empty registers, disgruntled employees, and general fuckery. With that being said, Target’s Merona and Mossimo line have some great basic t-shirts and tanks. In addition to that, Target consistently collaborates with designers, and their prices are low as fuck(looking at you Lily Pulitzer). Occasionally at Target I’ll score a super comfortable + cute + cheap pair of shoes, so keep your eyes peeled for shoes as well.

  • Uniqlo –  Is the GOAT store of basics. If you need sweatpants, chino shorts, button up shirts, or whatever else it is you need, Uniqlo’s got it. Last year I bought this beautiful navy blue dress that’s easily dressed up or down. Their linen button up shirts are also great quality, and you can get them for $19.90 each on sale. Also, if you’re into graphic tees, Uniqlo’s going to become your new favorite store.

  • YesStyle  – I feel like if I didn’t include YesStyle, I’d be a faux broke nigga. Not going to lie: a lot of the products are shit, low quality garbage. However, their are some gems in terms of trendy pieces and basic pieces. When shopping on YesStyle: always read the reviews and pay attention to the sizing. I never buy anything off YesStyle that has no reviews, or if the sizing is off. With this method, I’ve snagged some super cheap trendy pieces and some pretty decent basic pieces as well. Another quick note: Never buy shoes or bags off YesStyle. It’s not worth it.

0023082031

                                       Chuu Pleated Mini Skirt, $20.72

  • Zara – Oh Zara. The quintessential fast fashion store. I’m not going to go into detail because I’m lazy and everyone knows what Zara is. Zara’s handbags are lowkey the GOAT of cheap handbags. When I want to buy a random bag that I need to go with an outfit, Zara is the first place I hit.Right now I’m also loving their selection of shorts, most of which are super cheap + super stylish.

                       Faux Leather Bermudas, $29.90

Anyways, that concludes my little guide and I hope my fellow broke people find this helpful.  What are your favorite affordable clothing stores? Leave a comment below and tell me so I can waste money I don’t have there!

Holy Grail Alert: MUAC’s BHA Serum Has Snatched My Edges

bha 9

Ya girl is back at it with the skincare reviews, and my edges have been snatched. When I say snatched, I mean that my hairline starts at the back of my damn head. That’s how great this serum I’m going to review is. I deadass have found my first skincare holy grail, and lemme tell y’all that I’m hype as fuck. Who knew skincare made me so happy? Anyways lemme give y’all a bit of backstory on how I found this wonderful BHA serum. Recently, on an impulse buy, I bought a ton of peels from Makeup Artists’ Choice aka MUAC, and a couple of serums after my most recent disappointments with skincare products. Honestly, I initially side eyed the fuck out of the company because most of their products had five stars and I assumed that robots were writing reviews or some mess. After lurking MakeupAlley (bless that website) for 4039400 years, I tossed my cynicism aside and took the plunge.

Here’s a very brief explanation on what a BHA is if you have no idea what the fuck I’m talking about: To start, BHA stands for Beta-Hydroxy Acid. A BHA essentially works by penetrating your pores and getting all that nasty shit outta your pores(hence the purging phase). The most common BHA is salicylic acid, which is what this serum contains. If you’re allergic to aspirin do not use a BHA containing saliclyic acid.

Some really lit links if you want to learn more about BHAs:

Truth In Aging

The Claims

MUAC Beta Hydroxy Serum claims to control oily skin, blackheads, and whiteheads. “Deep clean your pores with the strength of your choice, 3-4 times a week to keep deeply embedded dirt and sebum under control.” The serum apparently has a pH of 2.3 and claims that for acne sufferers the serum will take 2-3 weeks to decongest your pores.

The Ingredients

  • SD Alcohol 40 B
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Menthol Crystals

Lemme be real with y’all: I was very, very, hesitant to even put this shit on my face because of the menthol, and alcohol. I was extremely concerned that the menthol would irritate my skin and the alcohol would dry out my skin. Luckily for me, none of that occurred, but if you have sensitive skin I’d advise for you to tread lightly with this one. Aside from those two concerns, I appreciate that the ingredient list is extremely short and that I know exactly what I’m getting in the serum.

Performance

To be clear, I just want to mention that before buying the full size pictured above, I bought the sample size which MUAC sells on their website. At $6 for .5 oz, I didn’t really have much to lose.

bha 9 sample

A smol sample of the serum.

When I first rubbed this on my face, I was not impressed at all. First of all, the serum smelled like fucking alcohol. It was like I poured a bottle of rubbing alcohol all over my face. Secondly, the serum’s consistency is very, very watery. It’s literally just like water in your hands. After rubbing it into my face, I noticed that it dried very quickly. I do appreciate that it didn’t leave any sticky residue or weird film on my face. Then, the tingling began. I just want to note that I’m an experienced BHA user, and the tingling on this was almost painful. It felt like I was pricking my skin with tiny needles over and over again. In that moment, I prayed to the skincare gods that after all this damn tingling, I would wake up to flawless skin.

The next morning I woke up, ran to the mirror, and JACK SHIT happened. My skin still looked like the same, dull, pimply mess it usually was. I was ready to run to my laptop and start typing a scathing review like the disgruntled customer I was until I reminded my ass that actives need a couple of weeks to work. Thank the skincare gods I didn’t throw the serum out because the results I saw over the next couple of weeks were nothing less than a damn miracle. After about two weeks, I started purging. Hard. Every morning I’d noticed little white and black things coming out of my forehead. My forehead also became a bit flaky, but that was easily solved by upping my moisturizer game(shout out to Eucerin). I noticed that the stubborn closed comedones on my temples and forehead were slowly shrinking. Most importantly, after two weeks I completely stopped breaking out on my cheeks. I’d usually get large pimples on my cheeks that in turn left horrible hyperpigmentation on my cheeks, but those disappeared.

Fast forward to today. Currently I have NO breakouts. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Negative. For the first time in a long time, I can say that I have clear skin. Now, I’m gonna keep it real with y’all: my skin still isn’t perfect. My forehead is still purging a bit, but my closed comedones are almost gone except for a few stragglers. While I haven’t noticed this controlling my oil ass forehead, or reducing any dark spots, I’ve noticed that my skin is baby soft. All in all, this serum has my skin at the best it’s ever been, and as an acne sufferer, it means a lot to me. After I used up the sample bottle, which lasted a surprisingly long time, I bought the full size 4 oz bottle for $28.95. It was money well spent, but I have a really petty complaint about the packaging. The dispenser for the full size packaging is very inconvenient to use and you can’t really control how much of the serum you pour out. I’ve wasted a bit more serum than I wanted to because of this. Aside from that, this serum was money well spent (although my wallet is crying softly).

Conclusion

MUAC’s BHA 9 is the GOAT of any serum I’ve ever tried. This serum has completely eliminated my acne, and greatly reduced my closed comedones. After trying out many crappy products, this serum stands out as a beacon of light in a sea of struggle skincare products. The only other thing I could note is that the menthol and alcohol in this could possibly be irritating ingredients to those with sensitive skin, so again, I’d advise for y’all to tread carefully with this product. Also, if you have never used a BHA before, do not start with the BHA 9%. If you want to incorporate a BHA into your routine, MUAC offers a 3% serum, Paula’s Choice offers a 2% serum and COSRX offers a BHA serum(unknown %).

Rating: 5/5

Madblackthot’s Rating Scale

1 – What kind of fuckshit? Would give this product to my worst enemy.

2-  Mess. Trash ass product with one redeeming quality.

3 – Meh. Wouldn’t repurchase.

4 – It’s lit! Great product.

5 – My edges have been completely snatched to the gods. Holy grail of holy grails!

I told y’all I was going to finally give a positive review. On a serious note: The shooting that happened in Orlando yesterday was a disgusting hate crime against black and Latinx LGBT community and I really don’t understand how gun control laws haven’t been enacted. I really don’t. When an individual can buy a fucking assault rifle and shoot over 50 people in a matter of minutes, we have a fucking problem.

Slaying Ya Faves: An OOTD ft. Zara Shorts and Other Fuckery

Honestly, I woke up today feeling like straight up shit. I actually wanted to rip my fucking eyes out and shove them up my ass. Sorry for the mental image you may get from that. Anyways, even though I may feel like shit, I surely as hell ain’t gonna be looking like shit. Today’s outfit had me looking like a 10 even though I felt like a 1. Navy blue shirt + floral shorts + brown sandals = a straight fire outfit.

ootd3

A high quality outfit ft. shitty lighting.

Last year I bought these floral high waisted shorts from Zara and they were magical. These shorts had my waist snatched to the gods, and my normally nonexistent butt appeared to be round and perky as fuck.Unfortunately, they don’t sell these pair anymore(RIP), but I’ll cherish these shorts until they fall apart in the washing machine.

The next part of my outfit are a pair of tan sandals with a low wedge, two buckle up straps, and a zipper at the back. About three years ago about these sandals off a random Ebay store, and I was soo suspicious about them because the sandals were way too good to be true. Incredibly cheap sandals + free shipping = a scam, or so I thought. I was prepared to get ripped off, but when I opened the package containing the sandals, I was shocked at how nice they looked. The material didn’t look like complete shit. When I tried them on, I found the sandals true to size, and comfortable to walk in. It’s been two years, and my sandals still haven’t fallen apart yet.

The last part of my outfit is a basic navy blue fitted t-shirt from Old Navy. Luckily for me, I got a bunch of these shirts on sale for five dollars and I love all of them. I’m not including any pictures of them because it’s a basic shirt, and I’m lazy as fuck.

Anyways, that concludes my quick OOTD post for today. I’m off to fuck around for the rest of the day. Any comments or constructive criticism would be welcome!
